Is This You?

Who Is This For?

Who This Is For:

  • You own an HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, landscaping or other trades or home services business doing $1M or more a year.
  • You know your bank balance to the dollar, but not what the business actually made last month.
  • Your CPA files your return once a year, and you don't hear from them in between.
  • The tax bill every spring comes in bigger than you planned for.
  • You've bought or financed trucks and equipment without knowing what they would do to your taxes.
  • You're not sure whether your S corp, or the lack of one, and the way you pay yourself are costing you money.
  • Your books are behind, and you want someone to catch them up and keep them current.

This Is Not For:

  • Owners whose business does under $1M a year.
  • Employees and individuals who don't own a business.
  • Owners who only want a return filed each spring.
  • Anyone looking for a shortcut, like a token salary or a whole crew paid on 1099s.
  • Owners who want their CPA to run payroll too.

100% Done-For-You

Here's Everything We Do For You

How Doug and his team run the money side of your trades business, every month of the year.

We Catch Your Books Up

Even a year behind is routine work for us. You give us access to your accounting software, bank and payroll, and we rebuild the books ourselves, so you don't have to sort receipts.

We Send Your P&L Monthly

We run your bookkeeping and send your profit and loss report within the first 2 weeks of each month, so you know what the business made, not just what's in the bank.

We Model Your Owner Pay

We build a model on your real numbers before any S corp election and set a reasonable salary from real wage data, so the way you pay yourself rests on data, not a hunch.

We Plan Big Moves Early

We work out truck and equipment timing, when customer deposits count as income and retirement accounts for you as the owner, checked against your state's rules while there's still time.

We File Your Returns

We prepare your business and personal returns, calculate your quarterly estimated payments and send you reminders, so an underpayment penalty never catches you off guard.

We Answer Questions All Year

Every package includes year-round access to us for tax questions at no extra charge. If you're thinking about buying a van, hiring someone or taking a draw, you can just ask first.

Still On The Fence?

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to buy a new truck to lower my taxes?+
No. A $50,000 truck lowers your tax bill by your tax rate on $50,000, not by $50,000, so you still spend most of the money. The real savings mostly come from your owner pay, your entity, the timing of income and expenses, and retirement contributions. If a purchase is on your list, we run the math before you sign anything.
My books are behind. Can you still help this year?+
Yes. Catch-up bookkeeping is routine work for us, and a year behind is nothing to be embarrassed about (we've rebuilt worse). A cleanup sometimes turns up missed deductions and sometimes income that never got reported, and either way it's better to know now, while there's still time to plan around it.
Is it a bad time to switch accountants mid-year?+
No, mid-year is a great time to switch, because there's runway to fix the books and get real systems in place before year end. To start, we need your prior year return, an invite to your books (QuickBooks Online, for example) and view-only access to your bank and payroll accounts.
Will this hold up if the IRS looks at it?+
Everything we do is legal tax planning, and every number is backed by real records and real data. In the trades, the trouble spots are usually mixed-use vehicles with no mileage log, a token S corp salary and a crew wrongly paid on 1099s, so we have you log your miles, set your salary from real wage data and walk through how each person on your crew actually works for you. If a strategy isn't worth the tradeoff, we'll tell you.
Is it too late to lower my 2026 taxes?+
No, but the calendar matters. Most of what lowers your 2026 bill has to be in place by December 31st, so the sooner we start, the more options are still open. The savings show up when your 2026 return is filed.
Do you work with trades businesses outside California?+
Yes. We're a remote-first firm based in California, and we work with trades and home services businesses across the country, so we know our way around state and local taxes. Everything runs through a secure client portal, scheduled video calls and email.
Do you run payroll too?+
No. We handle full-service bookkeeping and tax, but we recommend Gusto for payroll, because it's cheaper and more responsive than CPA firms that offer payroll. We pull all the payroll reporting we need straight from it.
How much does it cost?+
Business tax plus monthly bookkeeping starts at $750 a month. That's a minimum, and your final quote comes after we review your prior year return and talk through what your business needs on the strategy call.
One Last Step

Want To See What Your Trades Business Could Save Before December 31st?

Before the call, you upload last year's returns to our secure portal, so Doug has already studied your setup. On the call, he'll show you where you look to be overpaying, which fixes fit your business and which ones have a December 31st cutoff.
